If you are reading this, then chances are you have expressed a genuine interest in Eichhorn Capital Management Group LLC, and for that, I am humbled and extremely appreciative.
From an early age, I can recall my father telling me, “Evan, that’s why, when you get older, you’ll go into business for yourself…be your own boss.” Now, being in business school, I constantly think about his words and the logic behind them. My father loves what he does, and he has no regrets about the field he has ventured into (which happens to be corporate tax law).
What is missing from most organizations is passion. It represents a lack of passion for the work which is to be produced by individuals and the organizations for which these once energetic and fiery businesspersons are employed. In founding Eichhorn Capital Management Group LLC, I hope to eradicate this current culture of sloth, monotony that so many bring to their jobs, restoring pride and passion for one’s work and one’s employer. I have been particularly inspired throughout this first year in business school, by the passion and pride exhibited by my peers in their attempts to channel their business dreams into fruition. Attending the Entrepreneurial Exchange Group’s weekly meetings and events as an avid member and participating in our attempt to win the Stern School of Business, annual Business Plan Competition I found the drive and courage to push myself towards my own business dreams for the future.
I can recall that the first meeting the club had in the 2006-2007 academic school year, the president of the club, addressed the group assembled before him and stated that EEG was one of the best clubs in the Stern School of Business’ Interclub Council. He elaborated on the charge, declaring that if you were attending EEG meetings to network, to build one’s résumé or to secure a job, then you were in the wrong place. He proceeded to preach to all of us that EEG was strikingly unique, a very relaxed atmosphere where students who had a great passion and pride in entrepreneurial projects and theory could bounce ideas off one another and talk about whatever they found interesting. Essentially, what he told all of us that day, was that attending meetings for the Entrepreneurial Exchange Group was about enjoying creative business ventures with creative people who loved what they did, and loved to help others reach the tops of whatever mountains they hoped to climb. I must say as a business student, and now as an entrepreneur, that the speech I heard that day, combined with the passion and pride exhibited by my fellow club members is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life, and I credit both with giving me the drive and the power to push my dream into reality.
It is the ideals exhibited above, that I hope to see grow along with ECMG. I truly love helping fellow entrepreneurs and venture builders develop their ideas and see their hopes and dreams become tangible success stories and it is this that has inspired the basis of operations for Eichhorn Capital Management Group LLC, not the pursuit of profits and monetary gain. My own hope is to partner with fantastic entrepreneurs and work directly with them in growing and scaling their venture concepts into proud successful enterprises, renowned for their products, services and industry integrity. In turn, I hope these successful operations will allow ECMG to grow as well, giving the company ample opportunity to partner with even more wonderful entrepreneurs, on an even greater scale. It is with these dreams in mind, that I have modeled Eichhorn Capital Management Group LLC after Warren Buffet’s own corporate holding strategy: earnings retention. The best way to help our holdings and our projects grow is to allow them to retain whatever earnings they have made in expanding their operations. Even as ECMG grows, the company will retain its own earnings so as to allow for more capital to be used on future endeavors with some of the world’s most respected and regarded entrepreneurs.
I cannot think of anything more exciting to be doing with my time and my own capital than to start Eichhorn Capital Management Group LLC and subsequently, to start helping grow entrepreneurial dreams into entrepreneurial realities.
